Scott County Amber Alert Canceled, Child Found Safe

SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) - An amber alert has been issued out of Scott County after a 4 year old was taken from a home Friday afternoon.  The Sheriff's office says around 6:30 p.m. Friday, they responded to a home on Mcintosh Drive for reports of a break in.  They say when they arrived they found Kayla Samantha Melton, 25, had broken into a home through a back window.  We're told she then assaulted a female who was watching Tayden Bradley Kanatzer, 4, and took him ...

    MOREHEAD, Ky. (LEX 18) –  A teenager is dead after an ATV crash in Elliott County.  Kentucky State Police say two ATVs crashed on HWY 1620 just before 11:30 Friday night. They say Christopher Arthurs, 18, of Olive Hill, was headed north on the highway when his ATV hit the back of another ATV driven by Tyler Rayburn, 19, of Olive Hill.  Arthurs was thrown from his vehicle and taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Colon Cancer Prevention Project is hosting their second annual Kicking Butt 5K at the Kentucky Horse Park. Organizers say last year's event had more than 500 participants and raised more than $25,000.  The event will run from 8 a.m. until noon and feature both a 5K run and 1 mile walk.

    LEXINGTON, Ky (LEX 18) Firefighters said that one adult and three children got out of a home that caught fire in Lexington thanks to working smoke detectors. Crews responded to the fire on Anniston Drive just after 4 p.m. The home sustained minor damage. Some of the vinyl was melted. Firefighters tell LEX 18 that the fire started in the back corner of the home.  Investigators are still trying to figure out what started the fire.

    According to reports, the man's jet ski ran out of gas around 6:30 p.m. leaving him to paddle to shore.

(LEX 18) - Actor and playwright Sam Shepard, has died.  Multiple sources are reporting Shepard has been battling ALS for some time and died peacefully at his home in Woodford County Sunday.  Shepard was the author of 44 plays as well as several books.  Sam Shepard was 73 years old.
