(COURIER JOURNAL) The Bowling Green man accused of attacking U.S. Sen. Rand Paul in November has been charged with assaulting a member of Congress, resulting in personal injury, according to the Courier Journal.  The paper reports that 58-year-old Rene Boucher has signed a plea agreement.  Paul suffered six broken ribs and had fluid around his lungs.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The Kentucky House has passed a bill to expand rape statutes to include instances when older adults have sex with 16 or 17 year olds. Russell Co. Woman Sentenced For Manslaughter Charge

RUSSELL COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18) The woman accused of being on meth when she was in a crash that killed her toddler has been sentenced.  Jessica Warriner is accused of being under the influence when she pulled into the path of an oncoming pickup truck in September 2016. The crash killed her three-year-old child. Warriner agreed to plead guilty for her murder charge to be downgraded to manslaughter.  She will serve 10 years in prison.  More>>

FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) - Police officers in Frankfort responded to an animal welfare check only to find a small beagle trapped under a mobile home. The rescuers managed to extract the freezing dog and took it to the humane society, where he "was so happy to eat!" ASHLAND, Ky (LEX 18) Ashland Police say that the remaining Boyd County Detention Center escapee was apprehended Wednesday after a short foot pursuit on Armco Boulevard. According to the Police Department Facebook page, Thomas J. Bentley was apprehended in a wooded area. Bentley was the final escapee of four to be apprehended. LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington police were on the scene Monday afternoon of an armed robbery at a cellphone store. Police say someone robbed the MetroPCS store at 2350 Woodhill Drive. Officials said the assailant displayed a gun and fled on foot after stealing between $500 and $1,000. The store reportedly has been robbed several times recently. Police announced Thursday, according to WAVE 3 and K 105, that the remains are those of 45-year-old Lynn Marie Roberts.  Further testing will have to be completed before authorities are able to determine how long Robert has been deceased. Detectives and deputies had a search warrant for John Bush's vehicle, according to Sheriff Pat Melton. He told LEX 18 deputies saw Bush and initiated a traffic stop. Melton said that Bush fled and drove down East Main Street where he got out of the car. The car kept going and struck a telephone pole.

WOODFORD COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)-- One person is in the hospital after a crash in Versailles.  It happened about 9 p.m. Wednesday night on Clifton Road and Steele Pike. Police say a Toyota Camry and pickup truck collided. The driver in the truck was not hurt, but the Camry's driver was sent to UK Hospital and is in unknown condition. Both vehicles had no passengers.
