Lexington Man Shot At North Side Intersection

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) -- A Lexington man is recovering Saturday morning after telling police he was shot overnight. The man says the shooting happened around 11 p.m. Friday as he stood at the intersection of Sixth and Upper Streets. Police responding to the scene found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. The man told police two cars were driving by when someone in one vehicle opened fire on him. Kentucky Launching Help Line To Fight Opioid Addiction

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- Kentucky is spending $500,000 to create a phone number people can call to get help with opioid addiction. Republican Gov. Matt Bevin said beginning Dec. 1 anyone needing help battling opioid addiction in Kentucky can call 833-8KY-HELP, or 833-859-4357. People who call will be connected to social workers and other programs to help with addiction. The call center will be staffed by six people, plus a supervisor. Gas Leak Shuts Down Part Of Winchester Road

 LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) -- Part of Winchester Road was shut down Saturday morning after a utility worker hit a gas line. Officials say a worker with Kentucky American Water was digging when he hit a gas line, creating a leak just before 3:30 a.m. Firefighters say Winchester Road from Interstate Highway 75 to Polo Club Boulevard remains shut down as crews work to stop the leak. (LEX 18) The Influenza Activity Level in Kentucky has increased to "Regional." There have been no flu-related deaths reported in Kentucky. There are 11 out of 17 regions in Kentucky with confirmed Flu cases. Regional means that outbreaks of influenza or increases in ILI and recent laboratory confirmed influenza in at least two but less than half the regions of the state with recent laboratory evidence of influenza in those regions. FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18) The Franklin County Coroner's Office has released the identity of the victim from Thursday's fatal crash on Louisville Road.  98-year-old Hugh Hudson Jr. was pronounced dead at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center at 9:18 p.m. Friday.
