11th Annual Hillbilly Outfield Kentucky Derby Party To Benefit The Make-A-Wish Foundation

LOUISVILLE - To celebrate the world-famous Kentucky Derby, the Hillbilly Coalition will be hosting its 11th Annual Hillbilly Outfield Derby Party May 6 - May 8, 2011. Net proceeds will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation(r) of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, Kentucky Region.

The Hillbilly Coalition has hosted The Hillbilly Outfield Derby Party since 2000 and has raised more than $77,000, enabling the Make-A-Wish Foundation(r) to grant the wishes of more than a dozen local children.

Born in the backyard of Jim Hafendorfer, party host and a founding member of the Hillbilly Coalition, the idea for the Hillbilly Outfield began as way to celebrate the Derby party with close friends and colleagues. The decision was quickly made to turn the annual event into a fundraiser.

"When almost 300 people showed up the first year, we knew we had something special," says Hafendorfer.

Hillbilly Outfield has become a signature event and popular party destination of Derby weekend, with participants enjoying food, beverages, live music and other exciting events, such as the popular corn hole tournaments. Many Hillbilly Outfield party-goers have even camped out at "tent city" in Hafendorfer's backyard. Guests also enjoy the Derby day races via live video feeds.
"Hillbilly Outfield is a great way for friends and families to come together and enjoy the pageantry of the Kentucky Derby while supporting a great cause," continued Hafendorfer.

The event is open to the public and takes place rain or shine, with tickets available for purchase prior to the event for $40, and at the door for $55. Net proceeds will benefit the Foundation. For more information about Hillbilly Outfield, visit
