(AP) - All 12 members of the 1972 Olympic basketball team are planning to reunite in central Kentucky this weekend.
The team's loss of the gold medal to the Soviet Union has been a source of controversy and debate for decades. The team never accepted the silver medal and remains firm in its stance that it was robbed of the gold.
The reunion taking place both in Lexington and at nearby Georgetown College marks the first time the team has been together since returning from Munich.
Team members will hold a news conference Saturday in Lexington prior to a banquet honoring the 40th anniversary of the 1972 Olympics.
