FRANKFORT (AP) - A federally funded program is providing jobs for nearly 10,000 disadvantaged youth and adults with children in Kentucky this summer.
The program subsidizes the wages and benefits of eligible people who are hired through the program.
The program is funded with almost $46 million from the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program through economic recovery funding.
People who are interested in working through the program or in hiring workers can find more information at the state's one-stop career centers or at www.worknow.ky.gov

This is so foolish. Why not just give 46 million people 1 million dollars each and sit back while they jump start the economy.

10K people at 46 million is $4,600 dollars each . I think I could find jobs for them at $2,600 each . The may not like the jobs and would probably quit , which is what will happen any way even at $4,600. Another wast those who want to work will. Those who have too high of a concept of self worth or are just plain lazy won't. I can not understand why extended unemployment does not require people to work , even at minimum wage , and just make up the difference of what they would draw sitting at home.
