A car crashed in Danville early Monday morning.
Twice.
Witnesses say the driver lost control along Chestnut Street around midnight, clipped a rock wall, hit a parked car and dinged the side of a house, before finally flipping and landing on its roof. Police say three people were inside the car. They took off running after the crash. Police brought in a K-9 team to search for those people, but so far have not located them.
Investigators say they think the car was traveling between 50 and 70 mph in a 20 mph speed zone before the crash.
Then, as a tow truck was working to haul the wrecked car away, a chain snapped or wasn't hooked up properly, and the car went rolling down the hill. The runaway vehicle hit a parked Sheriff's Department cruiser and a police cruiser before finally coming to a stop.
There were no reported injuries.
