BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - Scooter Hollis passed for two touchdowns and Bowling Green won its first state title since 1995 with a 55-3 rout of Anderson County on Saturday night in the Class 5A championship game.
The Purples (15-0) appeared in three straight championship games from 2005-07, but didn't break through until this season when they won five playoff games by more than 25 points apiece.
Hollis rushed eight times for 103 yards and completed 8 of 9 for 205 yards passing. His touchdown passes went to KJ Cofer and Jalen Hunter.
Bowling Green scored on five straight possessions in the first half and engaged a running clock with 5:25 left in the third quarter on Cofer's interception returned for a touchdown. Cofer's 73-yard touchdown was his only catch of the game.
Seth Carmichael finished 15 of 35 passing for 127 yards to lead Anderson County (12-3) in its first state championship appearance.
