Police in Lexington are investigating yet another gas station robbery.
The clerk says he was talking to a customer outside of the Speedway on Parkside Drive, just off Paris Pike near the interstate, around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, when a man came around the corner and pointed a gun at them. He forced the two victims inside, took money from the register and stole the customers wallet. The robber took off on foot.
Police brought in a K9, but the dog was not able to pick up a scent.
Police say the robber was a black man wearing khaki shorts and a black hoodie. He had what looked like a white shirt covering his face.
It was the third gas station robbery in the area in a 24 hour period and the seventh armed robbery on the north end of town in the last two weeks. On Monday, a man robbed the Shell stations at Russell Cave and New Circle Road, and North Broadway and New Circle Road. Investigators say the same man was responsible for Monday's crimes. The other robberies include two holdups at the Red Roof Inn on Haggard Court, an armed robbery at Donatos on New Circle Road and a heist at the Days Inn on North Broadway.
Several of the suspect descriptions were similar, but investigators have not determined if the robberies are all connected.
