There is a fine line between having swagger which this team now does and being arrogant. Cal is a little concerned about it so he's going to talk to the team.
"They are good, but I'm going to, what you want to do is address it and we'll talk about it today and you have to understand what's happened in the last two weeks," says Cal."
Cal then asks and answers his own question. It's something he likes to do.
'Why have we changed. Well, let's not get away from that.'
The Cats best player might be a freshman, but he has it all together.
"We just have to come out and stay focused, you know," says Anthony Davis. "If you come out with this arrogance you definitely can be beat. Thinking like, ‘Oh, we're the best in the country we can't lose," then you definitely can be beat. But if you come out with the mindset like we have to play the whole 40 minutes, and not be living off the breaks then you definitely have a better chance of winning."
What a day for Davis. He is the SEC player of the week. The co-national player of the week. He's one of 20 a long with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist for the player of the year award. He's blocking a million shots and has made 21 of his last 23 shots over the last three games. LEX18 told him about all the awards.
"I didn't know about that but you know, just to be be mentioned in that category is a great honor," says Davis.
Surprised?
"Yeah, a little bit, especially as a freshman. I think I can play way better than I've been playing."
Davis' attitude is as good as his game. It's also a big reason why his game is rapidly getting better and better. He has a list of things he can do better.
"Guarding, like the perimeter. More rebounds. Playing better offensively and knocking down shots. Finishing around the rim more. Taking bumps. So there are a lot of things I can still work on."
If you go to the Florida game, get there early. They are putting a poster of Davis on your seat. It's pushing the great shot blocker for an award that has to be his, National Defensive Player of the year.
