Wednesday marks national signing day, when high school athletes can officially sign on the dotted line with the college program of their choice.
Highlands quarterback Patrick Towles probably counts as the highest profile signee in Kentucky. The Bluebird standout is expected to make his commitment to the University of Kentucky official.
Numerous athletes across the Bluegrass will sign in several different sports.
Scott County quarterback Ben Lawler will sign to play football at Eastern Kentucky University. Lawler led the Cardinals to back-to-back regional championships and finished his high school career with a 24-5 record.
Another Scott County standout will put his signature on the dotted line. Defensive back Avery Ford Wilson will sign with Lindsay Wilson. The three-year starter was named a first team AP All-State player his senior season.
Seven Henry Clay athletes will sign letters of intent. Football players Tim Hadlock and Danijel Tadic will both commit to University of Pikeville. Gentel Blair will run track at St. Augustine College. Kate Dishon will sign to play soccer at Kentucky Wesleyan University and teammate Olivia Max will head to the University of Dayton. Boys' soccer player Garcia Kabange will ink with Berea College, and his teammate John Magna will play soccer at the University of Cincinnati.
