A man who served federal time after admitting robbing more than a dozen banks in Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana is now under arrest after allegedly robbing a Lexington bank Friday morning and leading police on a four-county chase.

The incident started at about 11:30 a.m. at the First Federal Bank on Sir Barton Way in Hamburg Pavilion. Police say Daniel Vincent, 28, of Aurora, Illinois told a teller he had a weapon and demanded cash. Police say Vincent jumped into the Mercedes SUV he was driving and headed northbound on I-75.

Police quickly located the vehicle, and began to chase Vincent. The chase then went through Scott, Bourbon and finally Harrison County, where Vincent crashed into a guardrail near Cynthiana. He then tried to flee on foot, but was quickly captured.

LEX 18 has learned that Vincent served time in a federal prison in Homewood, Illinois in 2002. During that trial, Vincent told the judge he'd robbed as many as 15 banks.

Investigators also think Vincent is the same man who robbed an the Heritage Bank in Erlanger bank around 9:10 Friday morning. Police say in that robbery the suspect also implied a weapon, and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Vincent is charged with first-degree robbery in the Lexington bank robbery. He is being held in the Fayette County Detention Center.

This story has at least two inaccuracies about Vincent's past. To start, there is no prison in Homewood, Ill.
