A bicyclist suffered serious injuries when an SUV hit him along a Lexington street Monday evening.
Police say the cyclist had a green light and was crossing Man 'O War at the intersection with Parkers Mill Road around 6 p.m. when the SUV slammed into him. The cyclist flew up and hit the vehicle's windshield. EMS transported the victim to UK Hospital. Officials say the cyclist's injuries include a broken femur, a concussion and bruised lungs. They say the fact that he was wearing a helmet likely saved the victim from more serious head injuries.
Police have not released the victim's name.
