Central Kentucky got a shot at some of the coldest temperatures in years Tuesday morning.
That's bad news for the estimated 2,000 homeless people living in Lexington.
LEX 18 has been told that the city's homeless shelters are near full capacity. Organizers at the Salvation Army are urging you to donate any winter gear you can. If you'd like to help out, they're collecting coats, blankets, gloves, scarves, and especially children's winter wear.
For those in need, the Salvation Army on Main Street is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon.
