There are five former Cats, Eric Bledsoe, John Wall, Patrick Patterson, DeMarcus Cousins and Daniel Orton who are now independent contractors. They are traveling around America showcasing their skills for NBA teams. If they can put their best foot forward, it can be worth a fortune. But, they have all gone their separate ways.
"We don't really talk much since the season was over with," Bledsoe said after working out for the Indiana Pacers.
"Everybody went to their workout spots, I mean me and John and DeMarcus converse a lot. So, I tell them since they haven't started working out. I tell them what is going on."
Bledsoe is having a terrific time working out for the Pacers seeing how his skills match up against other college stars. But, he has a problem. As all True Blue Fans know, he didn't play point guard last year. He is trying to be the second point guard drafted. So, how in the world is he going to show the Pacers that he can run the show.
"Just go hard in ever drill we do. Just go hard and try to make the right reads."
Bledsoe expects the same question in every city. Can you run a team? They are concerned about one thing over everything else.
"Probably decision making," says the former UK shooting guard.
Bledsoe has seen the various NBA draft boards and gets filled in by his agent. He knows his name is being thrown out in many different possible draft spots. So of the five, his impression might be 'extra special' because teams have to decide if he's ready to make the right decisions with the ball in his hands.
Before Bledsoe met with the media, we were told to only ask basketball questions. So, there were no questions about the controversy surrounding his grades or perhaps who paid his rent while he was living in Birmingham going to high school before he went to Kentucky.
