A parole board ruled Monday that a man convicted in the 1988 killing of a Fayette County deputy sheriff will remain in prison for at least four more years.
William Bennett, 56, killed Fayette County Deputy Sheriff Joseph Angelucci in 1988. On Monday, the Kentucky Parole Board refused early medical parole for Bennett, who is seriously ill.
Bennett will not be eligible to go before the parole board again until 2016.
Bennett killed Angelucci in November 1988 when the deputy sheriff was attempting to take Bennett to a mental health treatment center. Bennett got Angelucci's gun and shot him. Angelucci died three weeks later. Bennett was found guilty of murder and was sentenced to 120 years in prison.
