Brandon Knight is the SEC Freshman Of The Week.
The 6-foot-3 inch point guard averaged 21.0 points, 5.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds in games against Arkansas and Florida. Knight recorded his UK freshman record 12th 20-point game with a career-high 26 points at Arkansas while also pulling down a career-best eight rebounds. He averaged 5.5 assists on the week and is averaging 6.8 over the last four games. His three 3-pointers on the week put him one-shy of the UK freshman record for 3-pointers in a season with 67.
You could make a case that his game against Florida was even better. 16 Points, 6 assists and no turnovers. And after UK beat Florida, Cal was very complimentary on how Knight ran the team.
Rotnei Clarke, who had a big game in Arkansas' win over UK is the SEC Player Of The Week.
He averaged 21.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals in wins over Kentucky and at Auburn. Clarke tallied 26 points in Arkansas' upset of No. 22 Kentucky at Bud Walton Arena. He hit a career high 11 (of 12) free throws in the contest including a span of seven straight free throws that moved Arkansas from a five-point deficit to a one-point lead in the span of less than a minute mid way through the second half.
He scored a game high 17 points in Arkansas' win at Auburn. Clarke became the 23rd person in Arkansas history to eclipse the 1,200-point plateau and now has 262 3-point baskets which is just four behind Scotty Thurman for second place in the Arkansas record books.
