Breeders' Cup To Be Held At Keeneland In 2015

Good news for all horse racing fans in the Bluegrass.

The Breeders' Cup is coming back to Kentucky, but it won't be in Louisville like in years past. Instead, it seems it will be right here in Lexington. Rumor has it the 2015 Breeders' Cup will be held at Keeneland.

Louisville's Courier Journal reports two different sources have confirmed Lexington as the 2015 location for the two-day horse racing event, which can average more than 50,000 fans in its biggest day.

Keeneland isn't commenting. Neither is the office of Lexington Mayor Jim Gray. They're directing questions to the Breeders' Cup.

But when asked, the spokesperson for the Breeders' Cup simply said, "it is Breeders' Cup policy not to comment on host track selection until an official announcement has been made."

Still, word is traveling fast. The interim executive director at the Kentucky Horse Park says this is huge for Lexington.

"Keeneland is a race track in which everybody has heard about it, seen it on television and maybe they haven't been to it yet and this is gonna be the opportunity for everybody around the country to come to Lexington and see Keeneland and experience Keeneland," said Ted Nicholson.
