Forget about it. You can't replace Randall Cobb. Not happening. But that doesn't mean someone else can't step up to the plate and be a home run hitter.
That person could be Brian Adams. After catching two touchdown passes in the Blue-White game this spring, True Blue Fans got a chance to see what he can do on the football field. They also got a chance this spring to see him in the outfield for the Bat Cats.
When you are playing baseball and football and you are really being a student, there isn't much free time. So sometimes you have to improvise, especially when it comes to sleep.
You come back from a baseball road trip at 2:00 am. You lost. You are really tired. The bus ride doesn't make it any better. You have to be at football at 6:00 am. Forget going back to your room. You sleep in the locker room. And to top it off, there are no pillows.
"I took my sliding shorts and my t-shirt and my towel and made a pillow and turned the lights off and fell asleep. But the glow of the refrigerator in the background put me to bed really quick," said Adams.
At 6 feet 4 inches tall and 220 pounds, Adams has all world potential. He says he is blessed to be able to do both sports. Pressure? It's there, but Adams ignores it. Joker Phillips expects big things from Adams.
"When he (Joker) came to my house, the first coach to ever come see me that's what he wanted. I'm tremendously honored to have that ability and it's a challenge and I'm looking forward to that opportunity," Adams said.
It didn't hurt that Joker was the first coach to come to visit him either.
"First coach. That's always said when I was recruited, the first school that recruited me is where I'd go. Kentucky was the first school and now I'm here."
Adams says being at Kentucky is great. Newton to Adams, it has a nice ring to it. It might be the next quarterback to wide out big time connection at Kentucky.
