Brooks says that the last time UK won at Auburn he was playing. 1961 !!!

I still can't believe that UK didn't have any penalties. Brooks doesn't remember ever having one of his team do that.

Will Fidler on radio was honest and with two thoughts to think about.

"Since I've been here it's the most proud I've been of the team," says Fidler who ran for one TD, and came up with a huge 4th down pass rolling to his left hitting tight end T.C. Drake.

This was not an easy week at UK. It could have fallen apart with Mike Hartline going down.

“At times the body language this week wasn’t that good, but give credit to Coach Phillips,” says Fidler.

As far as Rich Brooks post game thoughts on UK Radio.

"It was just to me the ultimate team win," says Rich.

"I thought the players in all phases of the game played real well. "

Then he threw in the obvious exception, the blocked field goal.

Brooks had high praise for his coaching staff for putting the players in the right place to make plays.

UK went simple.

They kept their regular defensive players on the field more instead of substituting their nickel defense because as Brooks says, they are better tacklers.

Other areas that had Brooks smiling was "the offensive line, the defensive did a terrific job, our kickoff coverage looked like they knew what they were doing."

On Fidler.

"He didn't throw the ball great. We mixed in some passes. He managed it a little better. I'm sure they are both going to play next week."

On the freshman Morgan Newton.

"I was pleased with the young guy early. He started better and then as the game wore on he got a little nervous throwing the football."

Newton who 8 days ago thought he wasn't going to play this year was pumped up.

"He was excited about the opportunity. He's going to be a really good player. It will be a little bit friendlier confines. Going home for three straight games helps Morgan settle into the offense a little bit better."

UK is 3-3. Next up is Louisiana-Monroe at Commonwealth.

"I just hope our fans respond. We have a 16 game non-conference winning streak on the line."

Brooks pushed cornerback Paul Warford who broke up four passes coming up the injury list.

"The plays these guys are making shows a lot of heart."

On the three game losing streak.

"These young men have not given in on the disappointment."

What Brooks told the team was very special.

"It was one of the most complete team wins I've ever been around."
