East Third Street in downtown Lexignton was closed Monday between Race and Shropshire streets after a building partially collapsed at Warnock and Third streets.
Police and representatives of the city’s Division of Code Enforcement were on the scene of the collapse, which happened in an older, unoccupied building sometime late Sunday night or early Monday. Part of the right wall of the building crumbled into a field next to it.
The building has been condemned, but the owner was fighting that ruling.
Motorists are asked to detour by taking Race to Fourth St. to Shropshire and back to Third St.
No one was hurt in the collapse.
