Cal is really happy to win, but not happy with the way his team played.
Since Cal expects to have young teams every year, unless the NBA makes his players stay in college, his reaction to beating Kansas 75-65 is what you expect.
"Did my 7-footer shoot a three to start the game?" says Cal.
Although that's obviously not what Cal wants out of Anthony Davis, when you look at his line, it's big time. 14 points, 5 dunks, 6 of 8 shooting, which includes the one three that he missed, 7 blocks, and 6 rebounds. All this while Davis is learning how to play college ball they way he wants.
"Did they even look coached in the first half?," Cal told the Star-Ledger.
"I mean seriously. Somebody yelled at me, and I don't hear people, but someone yelled, 'Jeez, run a play! Coach, run something!' And I wanted to say, 'You tell them! I'm trying to tell them!' We are really young. Really young."
For a minute, forget about all the talent Cal has put together. You either have this or you don't.
"But they have a will to win and that's what I wanted to see. That's the hardest thing to teach in what we do. Have the courage to say, I don't care what happens, I'm going to step out and make a play that shouldn't be made. That's the hardest thing for all of us coaches to teach, and this team seems to have that."
This is Kentucky. The goal is the same every year. Win the NCAA Championship.
"I've had some pretty good team. But this team, has a chance, if they choose to come together. Everybody thinks that talent wins. No. Talented players that play together."
Last years team made it to the Final Four.
Cal believes that this years team has more talent.
