Cal On Wall

John Wall was the read deal.

Forget that it was Clarion getting beat 117-52.

We won't know for sure about Wall until the Cats start playing North Carolina and Louisville.

That 15 footer that he had all day to hit, he might not have that kind of time.  What's exciting is, you can't wait to see how he measures up with the big boys of colleges basketball.

What's just as exciting is, you know Wall can't wait.

Wall attacked on offense and defense.

He had 27 points and 9 assists.  He could have had 40.

Even Cal was really curious as to how good he can be.

"I asked him if that was his 'A' game," says Cal.

"Pretty good, pretty good. He makes us different obviously."

This is the maturity level that you don't expect out of a freshman.  Wall wasn't concerned about his numbers.  He was thinking about his teammates.

"Let me tell you what I loved about what he did, he was saying to me, we've got to get Patrick some shots here and at the end he was saying, let's get DeMarcus the ball. That's a leader."

Wall said he looked at the stats at the half and saw that Patterson wasn't getting enough shots and that he wanted to get him more involved.

UK plays for real next Friday against Morehead State with John Wall.

The thought of Eric Bledsoe who sat out tonight with a bad ankle, and Wall playing together, might be one of the best backcourt combinations UK has had in a long time.
