This years Cats are a step ahead of last year.

Cal believes that because of added experience, more talent, plus the coaching staff learned a few things about adjusting to playing a lot of freshman last year.

Cal's logic is why this team should be better than last year when leaving Rupp for SEC games was a disaster. The first test should be easy. It's at Auburn who was blown out at Vandy 65-35 on Saturday.

"I know last year we were 2-6," says Cal. "I also know last year at the end of the year we were the best team in the country."

"I'm anxious to see how we respond."

To most of us when you say it's a good thing, it's good. Not to Cal.

To most of us when you say it's fine, that's a good thing. Not to Cal.

It sounds like a little thing, but it has a lot to do with why Cal has become a big time coach.

The topic is Darius Miller. Although Cal will tell you it relates to all players, he's not happy with the way Miller is playing. He won't come out and rip Miller, but he does take a shot in a nice way. Cal says Miller is playing "quote" fine.

"I don't like fine," says UK's Coach.

"I don't like good."

"That's our enemy. Good is an enemy. You don't want to be good. Why don't you try and be great."

Because Darius Miller was the MVP of the SEC Tournament, it's drives Cal nuts for two reasons. One, Miller can put UK on another level. And two, if Miller brings it all the time, he can make a great living playing basketball.

"Well how do I be great? Well one is do the things you are capable of doing everyday in practice, and in every game you come out with a mentality I will do what I do best."

Last weekend, Cal got to watch his two new recruits, Archie Goodwin and Alex Poythress.

"Coach Hall said to me those are just like the guys you got. I said thank you coach it makes me feel good. Because the guys we got are pretty good so we still have a couple of more guys we are going to have to get. And I feel pretty comfortable about where we are in recruiting. We sign 2 or 3 more to go a long with who we have we'll be fine."

And who thought Cal wouldn't be fine?
