A car flipped on New Circle Road in Lexington when the driver lost control, apparently trying to avoid an animal.
The accident happened on the outer loop around 10:30 p.m., just past Versailles Road. Police say the driver was trying to avoid a raccoon in the roadway and over-corrected. The car flipped at least once.
EMS took two adults and a small child between the ages of three and four to UK Hospital as a precaution. They are expected to be OK.
Lexington Police Sgt. David Ashford says if it's unavoidable, it's better to hit an animal than cause an accident.
"If they see there's an animal in the roadway and there's no way to avoid the collision, then the safer thing to do is just try to drive straight and avoid losing control of the car," he said.
