There are several people across Central Kentucky who believe the place they live or work could be haunted and we've had the phone calls and emails to back that up.
But the owners of Rohs Opera House in Cynthiana say there's no doubt in their minds that spirits are in their theater, and they say they have video to prove it.
The Rohs Opera House is a place people in Cynthiana go for a slice of life, where they can enjoy of some entertainment and culture. But it's often when the last patron leaves and the seats are empty, that the real show begins.
"There's always been a legend that there's a lady of the opera house here, and people would see this lady and people would actually quit their jobs because of what they would see here," said co-owner Roger Slade.
At first, Slade thought these were just kind of funny ghost tales, but then one night, Slade became a believer.
"I noticed this lady walked to the balcony, she was dressed a little weird but she was as solid as any woman I had ever seen," Slade said. "I didn't think 'oh it's a ghost,' I thought 'there's a sign that says you can't sit in the balcony'."
Slade went up top to tell the woman no one's allowed up there, but when he got there, she was gone.
"Our exits bar from the inside, so there's no way she came past me," he said.
Slade talked to other people who had seen "the lady of the opera house" and may have even recored some audio from her.
Their descriptions seemed to match, and after another time or two of thinking he may have seen someone, Slade and friends took part in a ghost hunt.
"We had put a camera that showed this whole area, it was a little Sony night vision camera," Slade said.
And as the night was coming to an end, Slade captured something.
"If you can give me a sign that you're here...I'd appreciate it." Slade said in the recording.
And he may have gotten his sign. Almost immediately after his request, he gets a text message alert on his phone, and as he keeps walking into a corner, the flashlight disappears.
"I didn't see anything, I didn't experience anything except there was a real quick increase in the meters people use," he said.
A human body seems to show up out of nowhere and walk right behind him.
"We tried to explain it away. What could it be? Was somebody down there? There were only four of us in the building that night," Slade wonders.
Could it have been the lady of the opera house? Or perhaps another spirit? The video has really scared some who work at the opera house. Sometimes they say they're afraid to enter the building.
"I call it the heebie jeebies.I just don't feel right, so I don't come in," said on of the emplyees.
It's made others realize that maybe what they previously perceived as a joke may not be that funny at all.
