Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen were deemed the "Big 3" before Rajon Rondo established himself as the team's floor general. Even still, when someone refers to the original "Big 3," they're referring to Pierce, Garnett, and Allen.
A day before free agency is set to begin, Kevin Garnett re-signs with the Boston Celtics.
The 36 year-old was considering retirement; instead, he agreed to a three-year, $34-million deal, according to Yahoo! Sports.
The Celtics have one other big name that will be a free agent -- Ray Allen. The shooting guard has expressed desire to return to Boston; however, the NBA champion Miami Heat is also showing interest in Allen.
As for the final piece of the "Big 3," Paul Pierce signed a four-year extension in 2010. Rondo signed a five-year extension in 2009.
