America's attention focus on Kentucky Thursday night for the one and only vice presidential debate at Danville's Centre College. Vice President Joe Biden and VP hopeful Congressman Paul Ryan are preparing to face off Thursday night at 9 p.m.
Mitt Romney's running mate, Paul Ryan, landed at the Lexington Blue Grass Airport around 5 p.m. Wednesday, taking the time to greet the hundreds of supporters lucky enough to get an invite to the airport. Among them were members of the Young Republican group at Transylvania University.
"We got the opportunity, and might be skipping a few classes to be here, but it's a lot of fun," said Lyman Stone, a student.
Vice President Joe Biden is slated to land in Lexington Thursday afternoon to a large throng of supporters of his own.
As Centre College prepares to take center stage, they are working on perfecting every detail, from big to small.
For 100 lucky Centre College students, tonight is already a success. Freshman Joseph Durbin of Jessamine County was the first name to be announced as a winner in a drawing to get inside the hall to see the debate in person.
"It's the opportunity of a lifetime. It'll be cool, and I'm looking forward to the social issues and addressing that," said Durbin.
The names of 25 more Centre College students were drawn, but they won't find out until Thursday whether they get in.
"I'm so lucky that I even get to be a part of going here when this is happening," says student Ali Gautier, who also won. "I'm so gracious to be part of such a huge historical moment."
An historical moment an entire town is at the center of.
