Charges against a Pulaski County man accused of impersonating a police officer were dismissed Wednesday.
Paul Edwards was charged with three counts of impersonating an officer after complaints he was stopping drivers in a police cruiser. Edwards says it's an old cruiser he only uses for personal use, and says the only person he stopped was a teenager on an ATV who became irate with him. He's now trying to clear his name.
"I never ... identified myself as a law enforcement official," said Edwards. "This was strictly a verbal confrontation between me and a neighbor."
The charges are dismissed, but it's still possible the sheriff's department could at some point present the case to a grand jury.
