Three fire departments worked to find chemical leak along a train in Madison County early Monday morning.
An engineer on another train smelled the odor and officials had the train stop near the crossing at Duncannon Lane around midnight. Crews from Richmond, Madison County and the Blue Grass Army Depot Fire Departments all responded. Firefighters spent about three hours walking the half-mile long train before finding the leak. Turns out there was a valve slightly open on a tanker carrying crude sulfate turpentine. Crews closed off the valve and the train was back on its way around 4 a.m.
There were no injuries, and officials say there was no need for evacuations.
