A man and his little boy escaped a house fire today in Lexington.

Firefighters were called out just before noon to Freeman Drive on the north side of town. While everyone inside escaped, the little boy was still hospitalized as a precaution for smoke inhalation.

Firefighters tell LEX 18 it appears the fire started on the back porch. We're also told two pet cats died in the fire.
