A child was killed in a wrong-way accident in Woodford County Sunday night, and seven people suffered injuries.
Police say they got a call about a black car heading the wrong way around 10 p.m. Just a few minutes later, the report of a head-on collision at US-60 and Midway Road came in.
Blake Cohorn, 5, of Lexington, was declared dead at the scene.
Officials say two people in the black car were taken to UK Hospital.
Six people were in the other vehicle - three adults and three children. The driver was airlifted to UK Hospital with injuries police described as life threatening. EMS took a passenger in the front seat to UK Hospital. EMS took an adult and two children in the back seat to a Frankfort hospital.
Officials say Cohorn was sitting in a booster seat between the two adults in the front seat. He was a student at Harrison Elementary school in Lexington.
Police have not released the names of those injured, but they said all the children appeared to be ages seven and under.
Officials have not released any information on the investigation or if they plan to file criminal charges, but say they believe alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
Fayette County Schools officials said crisis counselors will be at the Harrison Elementary Monday.
