A Christian Broadcast Network predicts the end of the world will start on May 21, 2011.

Harold Camping, the head of Family Radio, said earthquakes will give way to Judgment Day, followed by months of chaos, until the world ends on October 21.

"[The Bible] says nobody knows the day, the hour, the timing of such events," said Dr. Ben Witherington, a professor at Asbury Theological Seminary in Jessamine County. "Every such prediction has had a 100% failure rate. They've been wrong."

Witherington said Camping does not know how to interpret the Bible and hopes people won't believe Family Radio's message.

"When you live in a culture that's Biblically illiterate, almost anything can pass for knowledge of the Bible," said Dr. Witherington.

"I do believe that the world's gonna end eventually because I do believe in the Bible and I do believe we will have 7 years of tribulation, but it ain't gonna happen now," said Russell Lamb, a Lexington resident.

"It talks in the Bible about the 12 year war and that would be the end of the world, so this war's been going on for quite a while," said Deborah Williams, another Lexington resident.

Camping previously predicted the world would end in the 1990s.
