Clark County Man Accused Of Robbing His Father

A Clark County man is accused of trying to suffocate his father with a pillow and then robbing him of his disability money.

Donald Warner, 26, was arrested Wednesday, nearly two weeks after his father Richard filed charges.

Richard Warner, who has one lung and COPD, told LEX 18 he was sleeping around 3 a.m. on May 1 when a man whom he believes was his son put a pillow on his face, punched him several times and then ran off with his government disability debit card.

"I'm 56 years old and that's the scariest I've ever been," said Warner. "I was going to give him money the next morning but I guess he wanted it all, I reckon."

Warner called 911 after his son fled the scene. He found that his debit card was used 20 minutes after it was stolen with $600 withdrawn.

Richard's ex-wife, Lorie, who is Donald's mother, told LEX 18 her son is innocent and would never lay a hand on his father.

"If Donald did the things his dad said he did, {Richard} would be dead," said Lorie Warner. "{Richard} wants sympathy. He wants everyone to feel sorry for him. He wants everybody to bring him his own beer. No. I don't go for it no more."

Lorie Warner said her son took his father's debit card because his dad gave it to him like he normally does, adding that Richard tends to be forgetful after misplacing his debit card. Lorie also said Donald spent the money after realizing he was being framed for something he didn't do.

"Donald may run the streets and do this and that but one thing he's never done is he's never put his hands on his dad," said Lorie Warner. "I know Donald isn't right all the time but I know he's right now. I'm going to fight until it ends."

Donald Warner was placed in the Clark County Detention Center and charged with robbery and promoting contraband.
