The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Department of Highways announced Wednesday that a closure is scheduled for DeRoode Street in Lexington. The closure is necessary for work on the neighborhood redevelopment and culvert replacement project.
Work will begin:
• Monday, January 7 - the road will close at 8:00 a.m.
The location for the closure of DeRoode Street (off of South Broadway) will be from Valley Avenue to McKinley Street. The road will be closed 24 hours a day until further notice.
Appropriate signage and barricades will be in place to alert the traveling public.
• motorists can access the neighborhood from Merino Street to McKinley Street to Byars Alley
This will be the only access to the neighborhood --- there will be no access from Valley Avenue.
All scheduled work is subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet asks motorists to be aware of the work zone and to utilize safe driving habits when traveling near the area.
