NEW YORK, N.Y. (AP) - The Coast Guard is set to reveal new developments in the investigation of a hoax boat explosion.
A Coast Guard spokesman said Tuesday there may be a connection between that hoax explosion reported off of Sandy Hook, N.J. and a hoax in Texas.
A news conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday.
An emergency call from the Blind Date came in around 4:20 p.m. June 11. The caller claimed there were three dead, nine injured and 20 in the water off Sandy Hook after an explosion.
Nothing was found, and authorities later determined the hoax call came from land.
The Coast Guard last month searched for six people reported missing after a mayday call saying they were abandoning their sinking fishing boat in the waters off Galveston, Texas.
