Cobb And Micah Lost For Words

Posted: Nov 1, 2009 12:55 AM

I went over to Micah Johnson to interview him, and the tough guy was so upset at losing to MSU 31-24, he fought back tears and asked if we would give him a minute.

Randall Cobb was on fire.

"This is a big loss for us," says the toughest Cat.

"It took a lot out of me.  I just hope we can pull things together and get back on track next week."

UK had a chance to go to their best bowl game under Rich Brooks.  The players were thinking about it.

"This was a big game for us as far as the pecking order for bowl games."

Losing is bad enough.  But, it's how UK lost that makes Randall's stomach turn.

"For us to not come out, and show up with no emotion.  This was  big night.  Halloween, we had  so many alumni, a blackout.  We had so many things and we didn't play off that emotion and I don't know what to say right now really."

In the second guessing department, Cobb wasn't playing quarterback at the end.

Morgan Newton throws a silly interception on a third down where throwing the ball away gives you an easy field goal.

"You know, like, I trust this coaching staff.  I know they are going to put us in position to win.  They call plays.  We have to execute them. Would I have liked to have had the ball, yes I would have."

These players know what is goin' on.... they know they may be letting their season slip away, again. I don't believe Coach Brooks or Coach Phillips can take this program any further than they have the last 4 years. Maybe this "next step" is unobtainable for our Kentucky football program. Too many stars align against us, every year.
