Police in San Diego, California say they stopped the speeding Prius with a patrol car.

Officers say the accelerator pedal reportedly stuck... leaving the driver unable to slow down.  A patrol car moved in front of the Prius and began slowing... acting as a brake for the car.

Upon hearing of the incident... Toyota released a statement saying it had quote, "Dispatched a field technical specialist to San Diego to investigate the report and offer assistance."

Toyota, the world's biggest auto maker, has recalled more than eight million vehicles worldwide due to safety concerns over unintended acceleration.
