Wandering among the paved streets and manicured lawns of the Tuscany subdivision in Lexington, a coyote.
Residents in the neighborhood have captured video of the animal. According to neighbors, the coyote has been coming around for weeks.
"It's kind of cute to watch. I mean, my kids and wife go out and look at it and try to take some pictures, but when a car comes or someone tries to go after it, it just goes right back into the woods." Amjad Nisar said.
Nisar says the coyote doesn't concern him, because Fish and Wildlife officials told him the animal doesn't appear sick or injured and hasn't threatened public safety. Officials say they can't remove the coyote from an area where it is feeding and breeding unless they determine it's dangerous.
Officials say coyotes are not uncommon in the Commonwealth. To discourage them from sticking around, officials recommend keeping any cat or dog food inside, and securing the lids to garbage cans.
Local animal control officers don't have jurisdiction over wild animals, but said trapping the coyote and relocating it remains an option if the animal becomes a threat.
