Crews were on the scene of a water main break in Lexington Friday.
The break happened on Londonderry Drive. Kentucky American Water officials say the main that broke is an 8-inch diameter cast iron main.
KAW has currently shut down the water main, with approximately 50 to 75 customers currently out of service, and will be starting excavation.
It is anticipated that this repair will continue well into the late evening hours.
KAW believes this break was weather-related, due to the fluctuations in outside temperatures we have had this week, which affect the soil conditions which in turn push pressure on the pipe.
