Junior Darnell Dodson will not play for UK this season.

UK coach John Calipari made the announcement Sunday night via facebook. Calipari said Dodson is academically eligible and that if he decides to return, he could practice with the team if he met their standards.

Calipari began 'Camp Canada' on Sunday, the first practices with his new team before they head to Canada in the middle of August. He said there was a normal adjustment period with all the freshmen, but he was very pleased with their skill level.

Junior college transfer Eloy Vargas is still not on campus yet.

Of the four players who are returning, Jon Hood, Josh Harrellson, Darius Miller and DeAndre Liggins, Cal said they have all improved light years over last season.

Calipari noted that DeAndre's shooting is already better and Darius has impressed everyone with his athleticism. Cal said Jon looks more comfortable on the court and Josh is much lighter on his feet.
