David Akers Forces OT and Another Tie

Almost four years ago to the day since an NFL game has ended in a tie, St. Louis and San Francisco played to a 24-24 finish.
On Nov. 18, 2008, the Philadelphia Eagles and Cincinnati Bengals tied 13-13. Then Eagles kicker David Akers kicked a 27-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to force overtime. Neither team came close to scoring in the extra period.
Fast forward to Nov. 11, 2012, Akers, now a 49er, kicked a 33-yard field goal to force overtime between San Francisco and St. Louis.
Both teams had success moving the ball in the extra period; but both teams also missed field goal attempts that would have won the game.
First, it was Akers who missed a 41-yard attempt. Minutes later Rams kicker Greg Zuerlein made a 53-yard field goal, but it was nullified because the Rams committed a delay-of-game penalty. As a result, Zuerlein missed his second attempt from 58 yards away.
