The pitch from the caretaker of UK football is that the defense has changed from last year.
"We are much bigger and stronger," says Joker.
There are a lot of reasons why this football team believes defensively they are going to be a lot better. A key reason is the obvious. Knowing what you are doing. Knowing where to go. That was a problem. Now the players believe it's going to be different in 2012.
"We know what we are doing," says UK linebacker Avery Williamson. "Danny (Trevathan) and Winston (Guy) and (Ronnie) Sneed, they really fell short because it was a new system we put in and a lot of them didn't know the exact calls to make. I feel like we've put in a lot of extra work this summer to really learn those calls. I feel like if your defense knows what it's doing that they can really play a lot faster."
Danny Trevathan and Winston Guy might be in the NFL, but Avery Williamson, who will make the defensive calls this year, says he understands the defense better and so do his teammates because they put the extra time in.
"I feel like if your defense knows what it's doing that they can really play a lot faster."
If you want to put a big smile on Avery Williamson's face all you have to do is talk to him about the meaning of of getting a big time hit on Louisville's very talented quarterback, Teddy Bridgewater.
"Oh it would be real nice. You got to go out there and take advantage every time because you got to show him it's not going to be a finese game. If you go out there and put a good lick on him, he will really be looking for you the next time."
