State Police in Western Kentucky are investigating a shooting involving a McCracken County Sheriff's Deputy.

A deputy went to a home on Oriole Lane in Paducah to check out a potential suicide. Investigators say no one answered the door, but a civilian in the vehicle saw someone with a gun inside the home.

The deputy apparently called for backup and got back inside his vehicle. State Police say the homeowner came down the driveway with a gun and sword.

Investigators say the deputy shot the man. His condition is not known.
