A family dog scared off an intruder during a home invasion in Lexington early Friday morning.
Police say the would-be burglar kicked in the door of a home on Nakomi Drive around 2:30 a.m. An elderly woman and her granddaughter went to the back of the house when the suspect repeatedly rang the doorbell. Moments later, the intruder forced his way inside. The dog ran to the door and frightened the burglar off.
The woman and granddaughter were not hurt.
Police have not made any arrests.
