The Letcher County courthouse sustained some minor damage in last Saturday's earthquake.

The 4.3 magnitude quake centered just west of Whitesburg shook the area just after noon. It was felt as far away as Lexington. Many eastern Kentucky residents said they thought the quake was a coal mine blast.

Walls and floors of the courthouse cracked during the quake. Officials say most of the damage appears superficial, but engineers will inspect the damage later in the week.
