BENHAM, Ky. (AP) - A small eastern Kentucky city located in Harlan County has been told it owes the Internal Revenue Service almost $38,000 in unpaid taxes.
Benham City Councilwoman Wanda Humphrey told WYMT-TV (http://bit.ly/19IlrHu) that the IRS sent city officials a letter and has also interviewed council members to determine how certain taxes owed for three quarters from June 2012 to March 2013 went unpaid.
The station reports IRS officials said they could not discuss the situation.
Humphrey says the council hopes to resolve the issue soon
