While Lexington was hit with wind and rain, Western Kentucky experienced a tornado.
The National Weather Service has determined an EF 2 tornado hit Hampton Saturday evening. The tornado hit the ground for about 1.5 miles.
The North Livingston Baptist Church was damaged. A barn, silo and other property were also hit.
A woman who cleans the church on Saturdays says she would've been in the church at the time the tornado struck if it hadn't been for a text alert from the NBC station in Paducah.
"Constantly thinking about it through the night. Didn't sleep much through the night. We don't focus on what's gone, we focus on what we have and we're thankful to God for sparing our life," says Amelia Ramage, who survived the tornado.
The church pastor says that most of the church was destroyed. They say they hope to clean up and restore electricity to the building so they can continue to use the building.
So far, there have been no injuries or deaths reported from the tornado.
