An elderly Lexington woman is lucky to be alive after she was found covered in snow out in the frigid temperatures Monday morning.
The woman was found on Halsted Court near Russell Cave Road. Robert Channels says he was walking his daughter to school when he noticed something red in a yard. He says he walked up to it and saw 86-year-old Louise Railey curled up in a ball covered in snow.
Channels says he tried to get Railey to talk but all she did was open her eyes once and close them. He says he then picked Railey up, carried her back to her home and laid her on the couch before calling 9-11.
Channels says medics believed Railey had been there for about an hour or so and that she may not have made it much longer if she wasn't found.
Railey was taken to Saint Joseph Hospital. Her condition is not known at this time, but LEX 18 has been told she has early onset Alzheimer's.
