Elderly Woman Wakes, Finds Strange Man In Home

An elderly Lexington woman woke up early Thursday morning to find a strange man standing in her bedroom.

Police say a woman was sleeping in her home along Vanderbilt Drive when she woke up around 3 a.m. to find a man standing near her bed holding a night stand drawer.

The victim says the man got into her home using her own key. She accidentally left her purse in her car. She says she doesn't know how long the man was in her home, but he was there long enough to eat a gallon of ice cream, and gather up rolls toilet paper, put them into a bag and leave it by the door.

The victim says she initially thought that the intruder was a family member. She even spoke to him, asking what he was doing.

"I'm just taking this out for you," he replied.

Then suspect the ran from the house, carrying the drawer with him. Officers later discovered that the woman's car was stolen.

The woman was not harmed.

Police continue to search for the suspect.
