'N.C.A.A. Is Looking Into Former Kentucky Player.'

That was the headline in the New York Times on May 28th when they broke the story about Eric Bledsoe and questioned his grades while attending high school in Birmingham.

Sources tell LEX 18 sports that the NCAA completed their extensive review of his grades and cleared Bledsoe academically to play for Kentucky in the summer of 2009. This was before Bledsoe ever played a game for John Calipari.

Sources also tell LEX 18 sports that the questions asked by the NCAA this year in Birmingham was not the same group from the NCAA Eligibility Center that cleared Bledsoe to play.

Sources also tell LEX 18 sports that the University of Kentucky has received nothing from the NCAA that indicates that there is any investigation of their former shooting guard going on.

It isn't unusual for the NCAA to look into the background of either a high profile student-athlete or without spelling out exactly why, athletes where there might be some questions about their grades.

Sources also tell LEX 18 sports that if Bledsoe wanted to come back to Kentucky next year, he would have been academically eligible to play basketball.

Bledsoe, a 6-foot-1 inch point guard is hoping to be selected in the first round of the upcoming NBA draft.
